Ways a Nurse Can Evaluate the Medical Record in Your Case

  1. Simple Chronology- This is a compilation of all the medical records from various physicians, hospitals, laboratories, radiology, or physical therapists put in a chronological order. A chronology can be written in table format or narrative format.

Benefit for you: It saves you time.  It gives you a concise look at the facts in your client’s case when you are at settlement or mediation.

2. Timeline- This is a graphic design showing events along a period of time.  This can show all of the events surrounding an injury.

Benefit for you:  It simplifies the case for you.  It gives you a brief view of the events in your client’s case.  This can be used in court as demonstrative evidence.

3. Brief or Detailed Summary- This is a narrative of all of the events in the case based on the medical records available.  It can include contributing causes of action or damages.  Standards of care met or not met can be identified.

Benefit for you:  It saves you money.  A nurse review is a fraction of the cost of a physician review of the case.
